COVID-19 Jobsite Best Practices

Originally posted by The Builders’ Association on their YouTube Channel. In this brief (2:15) video, basic safe practices are shown, for quick reference. The description below also contains the same information in printed form.

SOCIAL DISTANCING:
• No more than 10 employees gathered in an area. Plan our work to ensure that at any time there are no more than 10 employees gathered. This will call for us to stagger our work and break schedules to ensure compliance
• Plan our work to ensure we are staying at least 6 foot away from each other.
• Plan our work to ensure we are not sharing tools and equipment
• No personnel contact or greetings such as handshakes during this time
• No communal food shall be permitted on the jobsite until further notice, i.e., donuts, pizza, buffets, etc.
• Do not congregate in lunch areas

EQUIPMENT:
• Do not share PPE. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, face shields, gloves, and fall protection harnesses/lanyards. For us to achieve this we may need to obtain more and assign PPE to individual employees
• Ensure used PPE is disposed of properly
• Do not share Tools.

ROUTINE CLEANING:
• Frequently clean all frequently touched surfaces with commercially available cleaners. This includes door handles, desks, plan stations, technology devices that are shared, gang boxes, golf carts, AWP controls, screens, etc.
• Clean surfaces of fleet vehicles, steering wheel, gear shift, instrument panels, etc.; use aerosol sanitizers inside closed cabs.
• The use of appropriate cleaning agents and directions shall be utilized to perform all cleaning.
• Ensure all exposed workers are trained on the hazards of the cleaning chemicals used in the workplace in accordance with OSHA’s Hazard Communication standard and that appropriate PPE is worn and available

PERSONAL HYGIENE:
• All jobsite employees are required to clean their hands often with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60-95% alcohol or wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Soap and water should be used preferentially if hands are visibly dirty.
• Cover your cough/sneeze
• Throw your tissues in the trash receptacle
• If you are not feeling well or have a fever stay home and notify your foreman and or manager

Please do your part in helping us prevent the spread of germs including COVID-19 together.

Corona Virus – What Construction Workers Need to Know!

This concise video was originally posted by host and contractor Matt Risinger on his YouTube Channel.

In this Special Edition of the Build Show we are discussing job site working precautions related to COVID-19 (Corona Virus). My wife is an Internal Medicine Physician and as we have been discussing this outbreak over the past week, she made some excellent points so I’ve asked her to join me on this video with specific construction work related procedures to reduce risk of infection and the spread of this virus.
