Important COVID-19 Update

In an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the City of Ann of Ann Arbor is taking action to follow state and county health officials’ recommendations. Therefore, Larcom City Hall (located at 301 E. Huron) will be closed to the public starting Friday, March 13, 2020 at 5pm and will re-open on Monday, April 6 at 8am. ​As of 3/16/2020, all Building, Trade, and Rental Housing inspection protocol will be temporarily altered. This policy is set to expire 4/6/2020, but may be extended or altered as new information regarding COVID-19 is received and assessed.

Rental Housi​ng Inspections:

All multi-family rental inspections (3+ units; initial and re-inspections) will be canceled and will need to be rescheduled. All initial and re-inspection rental inspections involving single family homes and duplexes will remain scheduled and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may be inspected or canceled at the discretion of the inspector. Agents and residents may deny entry during this time period and there will be no additional fees incurred for advance notice cancelations. Alternate forms of inspection results may be accepted at the discretion of the inspector with a signed affidavit. Building, Electrica​l, Mechanical and Plumbing

Health, safety, and other critical inspections will be performed during this time, inspections that are non-critical will be canceled. Examples of non-critical inspections that will be canceled and rescheduled are water heater replacements, bathroom fans, final inspections on kitchens and Bathrooms etc. (these are just a few of the inspections types that will be canceled). If you have an inspection scheduled that is considered non-critical you will be contacted, and the inspection will be canceled. Canceled inspections will need to be rescheduled. Alternate forms of inspection results may be accepted at the discretion of the inspector with a signed affidavit. For questions regarding ongoing projects please contact the inspector you have been working with for that specific project. Please direct questions regarding projects that have not had inspections and do have an assigned inspector to the following:

Submitting Permit Applications

At this time, we are asking permit applications to be submitted digitally through email at building@a2gov.org. If submitting digitally is not an option, a drop-box will be available at the north entrance of City Hall, in the unlocked vestibule area. Drawings and permit applications can be placed in the drop box for processing. Please do not include credit card or check payments with drop-box submittals. A member of our team will be in contact to confirm receipt and next steps. Permit applications can be found on our website at www.a2gov.org, under the Departments tab- Building, Rental and Inspection Services.

Approved Permit Pick-Up

Approved building permits and associated permit drawings will be emailed to applicants digitally until City Hall re-opens. Trade permits will be posted on eTrakit and mailed as usual. Please feel free to call or email us with questions regarding this process.
